Rigetti Computing (RGTI) experienced gains exceeding 10% on Tuesday following the commercial rollout of its Cepheus-1-108Q quantum processing system with 108 qubits. Users can now leverage this technology via Amazon Braket as well as Rigetti’s proprietary cloud infrastructure.
The newly deployed Cepheus-1-108Q stands as the most expansive modular multi-chip quantum processor available commercially. This release marks a threefold increase in qubit capacity compared to Rigetti’s former 36-qubit architecture.
Performance metrics show the platform achieving 99.1% median two-qubit gate fidelity. Company roadmaps point toward reaching 99.5% fidelity by late 2026, representing meaningful advances in both scale and precision.
Access routes include direct connection through Rigetti’s cloud environment or through AWS’s Amazon Braket service. This dual-channel approach positions the hardware within reach of enterprise clients, government agencies, and research institutions already utilizing AWS infrastructure.
RGTI shares appreciated from roughly $12.90 on March 30 to $16.79 by April 14. During Tuesday’s session, the equity opened at $15.72 before reaching an intraday peak of $16.81.
International Growth and Educational Partnerships
Rigetti revealed intentions to commit as much as $100M toward UK-based operations, with goals to establish a quantum system exceeding 1,000 qubits in the next three to four years. This strategic move complements the UK government’s initiative backing quantum technology development with funding potential approaching £2 billion.
On the educational front, the University of Saskatchewan acquired Rigetti’s nine-qubit Novera processing unit. This purchase establishes Rigetti as the foundational technology provider for the institution’s inaugural quantum computing platform, enabling investigations into materials science, algorithmic development, and system design.
Wall Street Perspective
Benchmark reduced its RGTI price objective from $35 down to $25 while preserving its Buy recommendation. After conversations with company leadership, the firm indicated strengthened conviction in Rigetti’s technological capabilities and strategic direction.
Mizuho similarly adjusted its target downward from $43 to $33, acknowledging intensifying competitive dynamics and elevated capital requirements. Nevertheless, the firm retained its Outperform stance, characterizing RGTI as a quantum computing opportunity approaching a pivotal growth phase with potential upside exceeding 100%.
From a financial standpoint, Rigetti remains in nascent commercialization stages. Recent disclosures indicate annual revenue near $7.1M alongside substantially negative profit margins and EBITDA around -$15.8M for the most recent quarter. The balance sheet reflects approximately $443.5M in cash and liquid investments against minimal debt obligations.
The price-to-sales multiple exceeds 700, underscoring that equity valuation responds primarily to announcements, development timelines, and market sentiment rather than current profitability metrics.
For the year-to-date period, RGTI entered today’s trading session down 31.69%, providing perspective on the magnitude of the recent rebound from levels in the low-$13 range.
