Nvidia has completed the purchase of Kumo AI, a Mountain View-based startup founded four years ago, in a transaction valued at over $400 million, as reported by The Information. The acquisition came to light after an executive from Nvidia shared details about it on LinkedIn.
The three individuals who founded Kumo — Vanja Josifovski, Jure Leskovec, and Hema Raghavan — have completed their transition to Nvidia. Their LinkedIn profiles currently identify them as part of Nvidia’s workforce, although Kumo’s official website has yet to be modified to acknowledge the deal.
NVDA stock experienced a 1% decline on Thursday after the announcement.
Kumo was established in 2022 by researchers with ties to Stanford University. Prior to its acquisition, the company had secured $37 million in venture funding from backers such as Sequoia Capital.
What Kumo Actually Does
Kumo specializes in developing AI systems engineered to address predictive business inquiries by utilizing structured enterprise information — including customer databases and transaction records. This represents an area where conventional large language models often fall short.
The company merged synthetic data methodologies with graph machine-learning infrastructure to address this challenge. Its AI systems can handle forecasts related to customer retention, credit risk assessment, and comparable business issues without requiring fresh training for each use case.
“With the foundation model, you point it to your data, you define what you mean by churn, and a second later, you get the prediction,” co-founder Jure Leskovec said previously.
Kumo’s latest model, KumoRFM-2, debuted in April 2026. The company’s client roster and partnerships have featured DoorDash, Reddit, Databricks, and Snowflake.
Nvidia’s Acquisition Spree Continues
This transaction represents part of a larger trend. Nvidia has completed purchases of over 100 startups in recent years as it expands its comprehensive AI ecosystem.
Notable recent transactions include a $20 billion acqui-hire involving critical assets and talent from AI inference firm Groq in December 2025, the purchase of data semantics specialist Illumex in February 2026, and a $700 million agreement for orchestration platform provider Run.ai in April 2024.
The specific ways Nvidia plans to utilize Kumo’s technology remain somewhat uncertain. The chipmaker might incorporate Kumo’s systems into its AI foundry platform, or leverage Kumo’s research team to build new enterprise-focused foundation models, according to The Information’s reporting.
This acquisition broadens Nvidia’s collection of AI models tailored for its hardware infrastructure and provides enterprises with additional capabilities to construct and tailor models using its platform.
