Google has introduced the Fitbit Air, a compact screenless wellness tracker with a $99.99 retail price. The device represents Google’s smallest Fitbit product ever created and introduces the first fresh Fitbit hardware since the company’s 2023 releases.
The wearable features a compact, detachable pebble-shaped sensor that fits into interchangeable bands. Without a display, the device remains lightweight and unobtrusive for continuous all-day wear.
The Fitbit Air monitors continuous heart rate, cardiac rhythm with atrial fibrillation notifications, oxygen saturation, baseline heart rate, heart rate variability metrics, sleep cycle stages, and total sleep time.
The battery endures up to seven days on a single charge. A quick five-minute charging session provides enough power for 24 hours of use.
Gemini-Powered AI Wellness Assistant
The tracker integrates seamlessly with [[LINK_START_0]]Google[[LINK_END_0]] Health Coach, an artificial intelligence wellness companion powered by Google’s Gemini infrastructure. This coach delivers customized fitness programs, dynamic exercise suggestions, and recovery analysis.
Each Fitbit Air purchase includes a complimentary three-month Google Health Premium trial, providing access to comprehensive AI coaching capabilities. Following the trial period, users must maintain a paid subscription to continue using these advanced features.
Google Health Coach remains in public preview status and will launch worldwide on May 19.
The tracker maintains compatibility with both Android and iOS platforms. Users can additionally sync it with a Pixel Watch, alternating between devices while maintaining complete data continuity.
NBA Star Collaboration
Google collaborated with basketball icon Stephen Curry for a limited collector’s edition. The jointly designed Performance Loop band arrives in rye brown and game-day orange color options.
Curry was photographed wearing the tracker in public appearances during the weeks preceding the official announcement.
The collaborative edition carries a $129.99 price tag and arrives in U.S. retail stores on May 26. Pre-orders are currently open through the Google Store and Amazon.
The standard Fitbit Air is similarly available for advance ordering at $99.99. Additional bands begin at $34.99 and feature multiple designs, including a moisture-resistant Active Band and a style-focused Elevated Modern Band.
Google positions the Fitbit Air as an alternative to subscription-dependent trackers such as Whoop, which mandates annual fees ranging from $169 to $349 for basic functionality. The Fitbit Air operates without mandatory subscriptions, although premium AI coaching requires Google Health Premium membership.
Wall Street analysts maintain a Strong Buy consensus rating on Alphabet, Google’s parent company stock, supported by 28 Buy recommendations and five Hold ratings assigned during the previous three months. The consensus price target of $426.44 suggests approximately 8% potential upside from present trading levels.
