Broadcom experienced a whirlwind week. The convergence of a new product announcement, achieving a $2 trillion valuation milestone, and increased AI infrastructure investments from major technology companies created significant momentum for AVGO shares.
The company revealed on April 30 that it had developed three specialized chips targeting residential broadband gateway systems: the BCM68565 gateway system-on-chip alongside two dual-band Wi-Fi 8 radio solutions, designated BCM67142 and BCM67192. These semiconductors merge 10G PON fiber technology with cutting-edge Wi-Fi 8 capabilities.
The BCM68565 delivers compatibility across XGSPON, GPON, and Active Ethernet fiber protocols. It incorporates a CPU architecture featuring open source middleware integration, a purpose-built network processing unit, and support for DDR4, DDR5, LPDDR4, and LPDDR5 memory configurations.
Both radio solutions consolidate 2.4-GHz and 5-GHz frequency bands within unified chip architectures. Broadcom reports that the third-generation digital pre-distortion technology embedded in these chips reduces maximum power consumption by 25%. The consolidated architecture aims to lower total component expenses while streamlining circuit board configurations.
This represents the company’s fourth successive generation of Wi-Fi 8 product introductions. The chipsets are presently available to select early-stage partners for evaluation. The company has not disclosed pricing structures or general market release schedules.
$2 Trillion Valuation Milestone Reached
AVGO momentarily achieved a $2 trillion market capitalization on April 22, with shares climbing toward $422. The upward momentum stemmed from expanding AI collaborations, notably a long-term partnership with Google extending to 2031 and an Anthropic alliance anticipated to enable approximately 3.5 gigawatts of computing infrastructure starting in 2027.
The company’s first quarter performance provided substantial validation for investor optimism. Total revenue increased 29% year-over-year to $19.31 billion. Semiconductor division revenues reached $12.5 billion, representing 52% growth, while AI-specific semiconductor sales surged 106% to $8.4 billion.
Looking toward Q2, the company projects semiconductor revenues of $14.8 billion, reflecting 76% annual growth. AI chip revenues are forecast at $10.7 billion, which would constitute 140% year-over-year expansion.
Broadcom currently collaborates with six leading AI infrastructure clients on extended, multi-gigawatt implementation roadmaps. Management has established an ambitious objective of exceeding $100 billion in cumulative AI chip revenues by 2027.
The company generated $8 billion in free cash flow during Q1, equivalent to 41% of total revenue. Broadcom distributed $10.9 billion to shareholders throughout the quarter via dividend payments and share repurchases.
Technology Sector Capital Spending Creates Momentum
Additional support for Broadcom emerged from Big Tech earnings releases. Meta elevated its 2025 capital investment forecast by $10 billion to a range spanning $125 billion to $145 billion. Microsoft and Alphabet similarly increased their infrastructure spending projections.
Meta maintains semiconductor procurement arrangements with Broadcom, Nvidia, and AMD. The elevated investment commitments from these hyperscale operators helped offset concerns triggered earlier in the week by reports suggesting OpenAI had fallen short of internal revenue expectations.
During premarket activity on April 30, AVGO shares advanced 1.4%.
Mizuho maintains an Outperform assessment on AVGO with a $480 valuation target. Among 42 analysts tracking the company, 35 assign it a Strong Buy recommendation. The consensus price target stands at $469.94, with the highest projection reaching $630.
