- The e-commerce giant intends to broaden same-day delivery access to 4,500 locations by late 2026, supported by a substantial $4 billion delivery infrastructure investment completed in 2025.
- Through its automatic coupon system, Amazon Pharmacy has already helped customers save more than $200 million, with GLP-1 medications representing the largest savings segment.
On April 9, Amazon Pharmacy integrated Eli Lilly’s recently approved weight-loss medication Foundayo into its distribution network, offering both rapid same-day delivery and convenient in-clinic collection options throughout the United States.
Foundayo represents an oral GLP-1 treatment authorized for adult patients dealing with obesity or excess weight accompanied by associated medical conditions. Unlike GLP-1 medications requiring injection, this pill formulation doesn’t need refrigeration, simplifying storage and enabling kiosk-based distribution.
Since 2021, Amazon Pharmacy has been supplying GLP-1 treatments to patients. The company introduced Novo Nordisk’s Wegovy pill through its kiosk system in January 2026, with Foundayo becoming the second oral GLP-1 option available via this distribution method.
Patients with insurance coverage can obtain Foundayo for as little as $25 monthly, equivalent to approximately $1 daily. For those paying out-of-pocket, pricing begins at $149 per month. The platform automatically identifies and applies eligible manufacturer discount offers before final payment.
Tanvi Patel, who serves as Vice President and General Manager of Amazon Pharmacy, explained that the initiative aims to eliminate obstacles preventing patients from obtaining weight management medications.
Rapid same-day delivery currently serves nearly 3,000 municipalities across the nation. Following a more than $4 billion investment in delivery infrastructure during 2025, the company targets expansion to 4,500 service locations by 2026’s conclusion. Customers in less populated and distant areas will receive delivery within one to three business days.
Prescription Kiosks Within One Medical Facilities
The company is rolling out automated dispensing kiosks at designated One Medical office locations. This system enables customers to obtain Foundayo immediately following their healthcare appointments, eliminating delivery wait times.
The initial Wegovy pill kiosk deployment launched across five One Medical sites in California. According to Patel, future kiosk installations could extend to non-Amazon healthcare facilities, subject to individual state pharmacy regulations.
One Medical membership isn’t required to schedule appointments or utilize the kiosk services. Those seeking continuous access to the primary care network can purchase annual memberships for $199.
Integration with LillyDirect Platform and Prescribing Networks
Amazon Pharmacy processes and fulfills prescription orders originating from LillyDirect, Eli Lilly’s consumer-facing platform. Additionally, customers can receive same-day delivery through prescriptions written by Lilly’s partner healthcare providers, including WeightWatchers.
Laura Steele, Group Vice President of U.S. Cardiometabolic Health at Eli Lilly, noted that patients may receive Foundayo on the same day they receive their prescription or collect it directly from their physician’s office.
Last week, Lilly commenced direct sales of Foundayo at $149 monthly for the initial dosage tier through LillyDirect for cash-paying customers.
Amazon Pharmacy delivers round-the-clock support from licensed pharmacists and provides comprehensive care management via Amazon One Medical, encompassing clinical assessments and personalized treatment guidance.
Amazon (AMZN) stock experienced an approximate 3.5% increase on the day the Foundayo collaboration was publicly announced.
